Proofs

We’re always looking for newer, faster, and better ways to serve our clients.  This means that we are constantly tweaking things to give you the best experience possible, from the first time we talk to the time we deliver the final results.  A big part of that is proofing.  I’ve been unhappy with the way we’ve handled online proofing for a while, but changing it is such a massive undertaking that I’ve resisted doing anything about it…until now.  If you click on the PROOFS link on the website, you will be redirected to our new proofing site.  I think this new solution meets our “faster and better” goal in several different ways:  First, it provides a much simpler way to view and search your proofs and order prints.  It will also allow us to lower our print prices…and provide free shipping on every order…yes, I said free.  Most importantly for us, it gives us back final quality control over the prints we send out, ensuring that we deliver only the highest quality product.

Go check it out and let us know what you think.  If you have any questions about the proofing site, or the process, drop us a line anytime!

If you still have an active gallery on the old site, don’t worry, you can still access it here.

teacups!

*All photos were taken by Maribeth while I tried my best to spin our teacup at vomit-inducing speeds.  (for the record, I was unsuccessful)

number three is the big 1

After I posted a few details from Spencer’s 1st birthday, it was brought to my attention (by more than one person…ahem) that I didn’t include any shots of the birthday girl herself…so here are some favorites from a little impromptu shoot a couple of days later…

Autumn & Michael’s Engagement

When a huge snow and ice storm blew through town a couple of weeks ago, I offered to let Autumn reschedule our shoot…but she loved the idea of taking some shots in the snow.  Great decision!  The ground was covered in a veil of icy white snow, and the trees all looked like giant icicles…gorgeous!

Spencer’s 1st Birthday

A few details from Spencer’s vintage-themed 1st birthday party…Maribeth continually amazes me with her creativity and attention to detail.  The cupcake toppers were made with scans from vintage 1st birthday cards (as well as the banner on the front door, the invitation, and a t-shirt for the birthday girl).  The period-correct candy was all served in apothocary jars, and when she couldn’t find noisemakers to fit the theme…she made her own, the hats too…seriously.  I’ve tried to convince her that she should start a business planning children’s parties, but she wants to focus all of her energy and ideas on our own kids…I love that.

February 10, 2010 - 11:22 pm Grammie - Love the pics of cute decorations, cupcakes, etc. Maribeth is amazing with b'day parties!!!! But where are pics of the birthday girl??????????

Say yes to the…minnie dress?

Our five-year old, Carter, is completely wedding obsessed lately.  I suppose in some weird way she wants to be like daddy (except for the dress and veil, of course).  I have a huge stack of wedding magazines on my desk (it’s research), and she LOVES to pour through them…so when I came home a couple of weeks ago, I found these…

Admittedly, her style is all over the place; but she’s got a little time to sort it out.  Seriously though, how cute is a pre-schooler’s inspiration board???

She also loves watching Say Yes to the Dress with us (again…research).  I knew that my friends at Southern Weddings were dress shopping at Kleinfeld this weekend, so in an effort to be the cool dad, I mentioned that “daddy knows someone who went there to find a wedding dress.”  She got all excited and then proceeded to ask “is that her, daddy?” with each bride that was on the show.  I wonder what Randy would think of the Minnie Mouse look…

Look mom, no hands!

Our baby turned one last month, and as usual Maribeth completely outdid herself planning and throwing the perfect party!  I’ll have lots of great shots of all the details soon, but I thought this would make a nice little teaser…

Amanda & Houston

Amanda and Houston were married last May, so I guess technically this is a “newlywed” rather than an engagement session…whatever you want to call it, it was awesome!  Their wedding is featured in the current issue of Gulf Coast Bride magazine, and my ad in the current issue of Southern Weddings magazine.   You can also see their wedding images on my portfolio site.  I get questions and comments about them all the time, and whether they know it or not, they have had a HUGE impact on my business!  So naturally, I jumped at the chance to schedule a shoot with them!  When I told Amanda that I wanted the shoot to have more of an editorial “story” feel (rather than just a series of cool portraits), she took my idea and ran with it!  Here are some of our results…
